I’m a lifelong City supporter – thanks to my mum and dad (pictured with me here at the last match of the season at the Etihad in 2014) – and I relocated to Chicago in 2008 for my job.

I have so many memories of supporting City: eating fish and chips from the City Chippy before watching a match at Maine Road; being at Wembley on 30 May 1999 for the rollercoaster match against Gillingham; crying in a pub in Chicago after the Aguerooooooooooooooooooo moment; watching City play in St. Louis, Minneapolis, Toronto over the last few pre-season years; dancing in Mary D’s with supporters from Chicago, Dallas, Denver, LA, Toronto and Hazel Grove after winning the title in 2014…..and the list goes on with more memories and life-long friends being made with every season that passes.

It was amazing to find a group of other City fans, huddled round a small TV with a spotty internet stream, in a pub in the middle of Chicago and quickly any weekend day lie-ins became a thing of the past.  Even in the depth of a Chicago winter (I never knew -30c was possible!) we will be at the pub for a 6:45am kick-off.

In the last few years the general interest in Premier League football has exploded in the US and all matches are now shown on TV – which means no more dodgy internet streams, hoorah! It also means that we’re adding new supporters and our group in Chicago is growing each season. I still have to pinch myself when I see someone I don’t know walking round the local supermarket here wearing a City shirt!
